Tower Ten obtains BREEAM Excellent certificate
March 2019: The Tower Ten expansion and renovation project was recently awarded a BREEAM Excellent certificate.
BREEAM-NL New Construction and Renovation is the hallmark in the Netherlands for assessing new-build projects and large-scale renovations on their sustainability performance.
Tower Ten’s certification is in line with the most recent BREEAM assessment guideline as developed by the Dutch Green Building Council.
Sustainability has been a key part of the project since the beginning. The construction site itself meets various sustainability requirements by making sure waste is limited and separated, that the use of energy and water is reduced and that nuisance to the neighbourhood is minimised. In addition, by retaining the concrete skeleton of the old D tower, the use of raw materials can be kept as low as possible.
Once the project is completed, the lighting both inside and outside will be energy-efficient (LED) and the climate will be controlled using a heat pump in combination with the existing district heating.
